Fruity Luton is a project of Transition Luton, a group of Lutonians whose aim is to help to transition Luton into a low-carbon future through grassroots community projects, empowering people to work together to make our town a healthier, happier and more sustainable place.
Britain faces some tough challenges in the coming years, including climate change, rising oil prices, and an unstable economy. While these are difficult issues, they are also an opportunity to re-imagine the way we live. Transition Luton is a positive and pro-active response that aims to do just that - building the local economy, growing stronger communities, reducing our energy use, and creating a town that will thrive in the 21st century, whatever the future throws at us!
Food security is part of that challenge, and the more food we can source from in and around Luton, the better. Where better to start than all the free food that is already growing around the town?
